Phill Fest. That’s What She Says

Phill Fest is a Brazilian guitarist from Florida in the US, a son of the famous blind jazz musician, pianist and composer Manfredo Fest. Their home was always full of music, with the most prominent representatives of Brazilian jazz included. So, it is not surprising that the son followed in his parents' footsteps.

There is only one composition by Phill on the album, That's What She Says: Meu Pai ("My Father"), which opens the album. In general, the album represents a broad panorama of Brazilian music, including samba, bossa nova and the traditional music shoro. Fest Jr. plays many songs by his father and other classic Brazilian composers, such as Jobim (Triste) and Villa-Lobos (Choro No. 1).

Trumpeter Jonathan Sigel and harmonica player Hendrik Meurkens greatly enrich the album's sonic palette.

In general, That's What She Says is a true gift for Brazilian jazz fans.
