Polly Gibbons. Many Faces of Love
Polly Gibbons is not only a great singer, but also a gifted song-writer. Her album "Many Faces of Love" tells an elaborate story through a selection of famous pop, jazz and soul covers, beginning with an energetic "Please Send Me Someone to Love" (Percy Mayfield, 1950), followed by the relaxing numbers "So Good" (Al Jarreau, 1988) and "Make It Last" (Bob Haymes, 1953) and the sentimental "That's Enough For Me" (Patti Austin, 1994).
The 30-year-old Gibbons is well known in her native England. She has worked with such prominent musicians as Ray Brinker, Kevin Axt, Diana Krall, Anthony Wilson, Christian Howes and Tamir Hendelman.
The album is worth listening to if only for Gibbons' incredibly gentle arrangements, which make it perfect for a romantic evening.
